It Doesn’t Get More Chicago Than “Lemon Pepper”

Lemon Pepper is the latest song and visual from Chicago’s rising star Howie Stackz featuring hip hop's savant in CantBuyDeem! The track Lemon Pepper is from Howie’s Fried Hard project; a 12 record album that dropped on March 25th of this year.

The video hits that authentic Chicago feeling immediately with Howie and Deem performing inside and outside of the infamous Rothschild Liqours; the southside one off Pershing not the now defunct location that used to be off Chicago street in West Town (which I totally thought still existed while writing this). I love a straight forward on location visual where rappers just perform the record and vibe out, easily my favorite style of videos to not only make but also watch. Authenticity + real life; man I love hip hop.

Notable lines that stick out are as follows…

“Came in this bitch with my lemon pepper steppers on” a funny ass line from CantBuyDeem.

“I’m on a campaign, 2028 im doing my damn thing, you ain’t gotta tell her what she knows, don’t try and mansplain” This line from Howie hits heavily for the men always making sure they’re up to date on feminist information. This is line is smart too because typically men don't know how to use mansplain without complaining about it, but Howie here is calling out someone else most likely observing someone being goofy around a woman, and yes mansplaining. Dope lines here, funny and thought provoking!

“You can’t buy me either, if you Cant Buy Deem!” a dope line from Howie inferring that these rappers are moving independently of record labels and suffocating contracts.

“I’m offended that she think we got the same taste in women” another funny line from Deem most likely inferring that the bisexual woman he’s chatting with thinks they have the same taste. Every line of the song hits hard over the beat but if you’re not paying attention you will miss the humor. Pay attention!

“I’m like Malcolm, I'm in the middle of getting money fam” who doesn’t love a solid 90s/2000s sitcom reference?

“Lemon Pepper” featuring CantBuyDeem from Fried Hard; the 12 track album by Howie Stackz is available now on YouTube with the project streaming everywhere! If you're a Chicago hip hop head you will love this one!
