Novatore's "Machines" featuring Merkules; Produced by C-Lance

Machines is a long overdue record that was bound to happen; given both Novatore and Merkules have collaborations with C-Lance! When this dropped I immediately thought to myself this record deserves an article, and here we are!

C-Lance has an impeccable track record and catalog featuring the biggest emcees and lyricists of modern hip hop. C-Lance has the mainstream and underground emcees all over his work, I recommend doing a deep dive after reading this.

Novatore's raw rugged and hard core style pairs nicely with C-Lance production and a guest verse from the bar beast Merkules.

Merkules starts the record off going straight into a sick verse. “I keep having these dreams that I strangle em by their vocal chords and toss em off the boat until they show up on the ocean shore” A visceral line from Merk detailing how his consistency and lyricism kill whack rappers.

“This death row chain means I got a lot on my chest, ain’t nobody coming near it, ima rock it till death, I change languages around cops cause I don’t talk to the feds” Merkules detailing here he was gifted a Death Row chain and wears it proudly while avoid interacting with federal agents. This comes up a lot because rappers touch a lot of untaxed money and the feds are always trying to make examples out of musicians unfortunately, especially in hip hop since the genre is Black centric.

In the hook Novatore details how him and Merk aren’t men but machines; working non stop, dropping more music, and it's not a means to an end and they can put an END to your whole team. Novatore once again hits a solid memorable hook in Machines. Structurally I enjoy how it starts right away with a Merkules verse before getting into Novatore’s hook.

“Ain’t got the stamina to go against your boy and Merk, you couldn’t put the hours in, you quit, but we enjoy the work.” Novatore explains in prose how a lot of rappers REALLY don’t love the craft or the game, as much as they claim.

“We don’t avoid the dirt, I got them hands dirty, demand a worthy adversary who could stand sturdy, always hating from the stands in another man’s jersey, claims he wants to pull his fucking weight and now his hands hurting” This is a dope string of multis and it details how fake so many men are in the game, and how there’s not many that can keep up with Merkules and Novatore. The jersey line is relatable because your average guy would rather go to the stadium and cheer on a team or player than build anything substantial for themselves. Dope emceeing here!

Novatore and Merkules prove they’re not really human when it comes to productivity and work ethic, are they merely mortal men, or something else… are they “Machines”?

Stream the song below and keep up with all new records from Novatore, Merkules, and the super rap producer C-Lance.
